GTA 6 Phone and Social Media: What's Confirmed So Far

Does GTA 6 have social media?
Rockstar’s characters carry a smartphone with social media feeds. The best source so far is the feature in Dazed’s autumn 2026 issue, written after interviews with Rockstar developers. It says the game has “working social media feeds” on the in-game phone (Dazed). Reported We read the full article for this guide.
What the phone does, as far as anyone has said
Social feeds. Dazed gives a concrete example of how it fits into play. On the way to a job you can drive as Jason, then swap to Lucia in the passenger seat to scroll on the phone. Reported
A story told through posts. The same feature says the rise of the rap duo Real Dimez can be traced through in-game viral social media posts. Reported Rockstar has introduced Real Dimez as part of the cast; see our story and characters guide. So the feeds also carry part of the story.
Why social media fits Vice City. Jillian Carr, a Miami stylist who has worked with Rockstar since 2023 on the game’s fashion, told Dazed that “Vice City is built around vanity” and that social media and celebrity culture make appearances count for a lot there. Reported That is context for why the feeds exist. It is not a description of how they work.
Radio and podcasts. This part is official. Rockstar says the game’s radio and on-demand podcasts can be played on foot through headphones and earbuds connected to the characters’ smartphones (Rockstar newswire). Official Details are in our radio and music guide.
GTA 6 phone apps: confirmed vs. rumored
The app names. You will see lists of apps and websites with parody names online. Some trace back to website domains that a leaker called Tez2 posted in September 2025 as registered under Take-Two. Gfinity, which compiled the list, says the connection to the game is speculation and that Rockstar has not named any apps (Gfinity). Rumor / unconfirmed Some names also appear in preview coverage, but none appears in a Rockstar text we could read, so we do not repeat them here.
Missions from the phone. Brazilian retailer listings (Kabum and Amazon Brazil) reportedly say players will browse viral videos, follow fictional influencers and track live events, with secret side missions tied to it. Beebom, which reported the listings, notes that Rockstar has not confirmed these details (Beebom). Rumor / unconfirmed Store copy is written by retailers, and nothing in Dazed’s reporting backs the missions claim.
Livestreaming NPCs and Snapmatic. Gfinity says the Extended Look (see our trailers guide) showed NPCs live streaming and Lucia mentioning Snapmatic, the photo app from GTA V (Gfinity). Rumor / unconfirmed We could not check this against the footage or a Rockstar text, so we treat it as unverified.
What we still do not know
- Whether the feeds react to what you do, or are scripted.
- How many apps there are, and what each one does.
- Whether the phone has any link to an online mode. Rockstar has not announced one; see our GTA 6 Online guide.
- Whether Jason’s phone and Lucia’s phone differ.
How to spot a fake claim about the phone
If a video lists “every app” with names and screenshots, ask where the screenshots come from. Unless the source is Rockstar, treat the names and interfaces as guesses. Our leaks guide explains how to weigh claims like these.
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
