GTA 6 60 FPS, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series S: What Is Confirmed

Last updated Mostly rumor / unconfirmed

Quick answerRockstar has not confirmed a 60 FPS mode, a PS5 Pro upgrade, or a Series S frame-rate target. The only frame rate that shows up in reports is 30 FPS in development builds. Everything else is rumor.

What Rockstar has actually said

Rockstar’s game page names the platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and marks PlayStation 5 as the platform where the game “plays best” (Rockstar). Official It does not list resolution targets, frame-rate modes or per-console performance details, as far as the page content we retrieved shows.

That is the entire official picture. If a headline says “GTA 6 will run at 60 FPS” or “30 FPS only,” it is not quoting a Rockstar specification.

The PS5 “plays best” label

The wording on Rockstar’s page is a marketing label, not a technical claim. It tells you which console Rockstar chose to highlight. It does not tell you the resolution, the frame rate or whether the PS5 Pro does anything extra.

PS5 Pro

One roundup says the PlayStation Store lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced but does not explain the upgrades (GTA6 Performance guide). Rumor / unconfirmed We could not confirm the store tag ourselves, and a tag alone does not say what the enhancement is. Sony’s general position, as the same roundup puts it, is that Pro enhancements vary by game.

Some outlets argue the Pro’s extra power most likely improves image quality or stability at 30 FPS rather than unlocking 60. That is analysis, and a reasonable guess is still a guess. Rumor / unconfirmed

60 FPS claims

Here is what is circulating, with how much weight we give each:

  • A developer comment about 30 FPS. A report says a Rockstar developer indicated console builds were running at 30 FPS during development, without giving a final launch spec (GTA6 Performance guide). Rumor / unconfirmed A development build is not the shipping game.
  • A 30 FPS Quality mode and 60 FPS Performance mode. G2A reports that this is planned and that the 60 FPS option may arrive after launch (G2A). Rumor / unconfirmed The report relies on unnamed sourcing, and a Polish retailer listing hinting at two presets is not evidence of frame rates.
  • “Very likely” on PS5 and Series X. The same G2A headline uses that language. A headline is not a confirmation.

If you want one line: 30 FPS is the only number with any report behind it, 60 FPS is unconfirmed, and nothing here is from Rockstar.

Xbox Series S

The single specific claim we found says Series S is reportedly targeting 30 FPS for now (G2A). Rumor / unconfirmed Other coverage notes that the Series S has historically received lower settings than the Series X on big games, which is a pattern rather than a statement about this one. Rockstar’s page lists Series X|S together and says nothing about differences.

What this means if you are choosing a console

  • Do not buy hardware for a rumored 60 FPS mode. There is nothing official to base it on.
  • If you already own a console, play the one you have. The platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (Rockstar). Official
  • Wait for hands-on reports after launch if performance is the deciding factor. Reviewers and analysts will measure frame rates, and those are the numbers worth reading.

Why there is so much noise here

Performance is a topic where almost nobody has data and everybody has an opinion. Retailer listings, store tags, forum posts and old developer remarks all get quoted as if they were specs. When you see a figure, ask where it came from and whether the source is Rockstar. For this game, as of 2026-10-19, none is.

What we will update

If Rockstar publishes performance details, or the platform stores show them, we add them above with the source. Until then, see the release date guide for platforms and the download size guide for storage planning.
