GTA 6 Release Date: November 19, 2026

The date, in one place

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026. Official That date is on Rockstar’s own game page, which also lists the platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The page marks PlayStation 5 as the console where the game “plays best”, which is Rockstar’s wording, not ours.

If you only need the date and platforms, that is all you need. The rest of this page covers how we got here and what is still open.

How the date moved

This was not the first date. According to press coverage of Take-Two’s announcements, the game first slipped from a fall 2025 window to May 26, 2026 (TipRanks, citing The Fly). It then moved again to November 19, 2026 (Variety). Official

Why mention it? Because a lot of older pages still circulate with the 2025 and May 2026 dates. If a site gives you either of those, it is out of date.

As of 2026-10-19, we did not find any announcement of a further delay. That is the result of our own search, not a promise from the publisher, so treat it as a snapshot. Rumor / unconfirmed

Platforms at launch

Rockstar’s page lists two platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Official It does not list PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo consoles or PC. Absence from the page is not the same as a statement that those versions will never exist, but it is what Rockstar has announced, so that is what we treat as the plan.

• PlayStation 5: Listed. The page marks it as the “plays best” platform. Official
• Xbox Series X|S: Listed. Official
• PC: Not announced. Any dates you see online are guesses; see our guide on the GTA 6 PC release.
• Last-generation consoles: Not listed.

The rating is ESRB Mature, with the descriptors Rockstar’s page lists: blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and drug and alcohol use. The listing also notes in-game purchases. Official

What has not been announced

A few things people keep asking about are still open:

1. The exact unlock time. The date is confirmed, the minute is not. We keep a separate page for that: GTA 6 release time by time zone, plus the launch time converter.
2. The final download size. Not published. See GTA 6 download size.
3. A PC date. Not published.

Pre-orders and preload

Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, based on press coverage of Take-Two’s announcement (Yahoo Finance). Digital pre-orders are reported to be able to preload starting November 12, 2026 (Hollywood Reporter). Details are in the preorder guide and the preload guide.

What to watch before launch

The two places to check are Rockstar’s game page and its newswire. If the date, the unlock time or the platforms change, they will say so first. We update this page and the site’s data file the same day we confirm a change.

Sources and how we label them

We read Rockstar’s game page directly on 2026-10-19. For items such as the delay history we rely on named news outlets quoting the publisher, and we say so each time. Anything we could not trace back to Rockstar or Take-Two is marked as a rumor.
